Uzungol urban transformation project continues

The urban transformation project continues in the world-famous tourism center Uzungöl in Trabzon. Within the scope of the project, the illegal structures surrounding the lake shore will be demolished, visual pollution will be eliminated, natural recreation areas with visual aesthetics will be created and the surrounding area of the lake will be completely opened. Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Murat Zorluoğlu said, “We are trying to create a much greener lake environment. Our goal is to create a very different Uzungöl by the end of 2022 ”.

Following the illegal building demolitions in the plateaus in the Eastern Black Sea Region, contrary to the "Reconstruction Peace", the work started for tourism centers continues. The increase in the number of hotels, pensions and workplaces in Uzungöl, one of the favorite tourism centers of the Black Sea, in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, has brought the problem of zoning pollution on the agenda for a long time. Uzungöl, which is visited by thousands of tourists every year, has not found a solution to the increasing development problem over time. Recently, in Uzungöl, where tourists from the Gulf countries have shown great interest, the increase in zoning pollution peaked with the unplanned increase in the number of buildings. In Uzungöl, 862 illegal building owners who had a demolition decision applied to benefit from the zoning peace. However, 112 of the 17 buildings, which were determined to be unsuitable for zoning peace, were trimmed and the remaining structures were destroyed.

ROW IN THE BUILDINGS ON THE LAKE SHORE

With the support of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality prepared a 2-stage Rehabilitation and Improvement Project in and around the lake. With the project, natural, environmentally friendly, durable materials will be used, and daily recreation areas will be created in Uzungöl and its surrounding. With the urban transformation to be implemented in the second phase of the project, the infrastructure works of which have been completed, the illegal structures on the treasury land surrounding the lake shore will be demolished and the privately owned lands will be expropriated. Uzungöl, where visual pollution will be eliminated, will be free from concrete and building density. With the project planned to be completed in 2022, Uzungöl will be lush green.
