BİYOTEKSAN has reached the final stage in the domestic fingerprint recognition system developed with the engineering support of HAVELSAN. The system will first be used in our Ministry in March.

The first product of the Biometric Data System Project, which was initiated to speed up forensic examination, identification and identity verification processes, and to increase its reliability, the domestic fingerprint recognition system will be used in the General Directorate of Immigration Management and the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs as of March. The system will then be put into use by the Criminal Department of the General Directorate of Security and the Criminal Department of the Gendarmerie General Command. Turkey currently uses foreign origin biometric data systems; Thus, it will be the 7th country in the world to develop a biometric data system with its own means.

The project was initiated in line with the protocol on the Ministry of Interior Biometric Data System signed between HAVELSAN and the Police Care and Assistance Fund (POLSAN).

In this context, a company named BİYOTEKSAN was established. BİYOTEKSAN will develop Qualified (Clean) Fingerprint Recognition Product in the first phase of the Biometric Data System Project and Unqualified (Crime Scene) Fingerprint Recognition Product in the second phase. In the upcoming process, a central National Biometric Data Management System, which includes all current biometric recognition technologies (fingerprint, palm print, vein print, face, iris, retina, voice, and so on), will be commissioned locally and nationally. With the establishment of the central biometric data system, an infrastructure that can serve all official institutions and private companies will be established.
