Sabanci University, Turkey Space Agency and will do with TUBITAK Space "Enhanced X-Ray Timing and polarimetry Satellite Wide Area Monitoring Application Software" project is the only laboratory that produces and designs astrophysics purpose instrument in Turkey will make High Energy Astrophysics Sensors Laboratory of the host.

Turkey's National Space Program will contribute to achieving life to go through and described goals, one of four major projects "Enhanced X-Ray Timing and polarimetry Satellite Wide Area Monitoring Application Software" project Turkey Space Agency, TUBITAK Space and Sabancı University signed a protocol comes to life with.

Ratification of this protocol Sabanci University, will serve the satellite data with expert staff in high-energy astrophysics space designed astrophysics purpose instrument in Turkey and manufactures the only laboratory that does High Energy Astrophysics Sensors Laboratory of the host.

What is the eXTP Project?

eXTP Projectis an x-ray satellite project that can detect celestial objects (black holes, neutron stars, gamma ray bursts) that make the most interesting and intense flashes in the universe, and that can investigate the physics of these objects both spectrally, temporally and polarimetrically with giant observation instruments.

In the International Project, the satellite platform will be made by China, two of the four payloads will be carried out by China and two by European countries (ESA). Phase B of the project, phase A of which was completed, has also started. Turkey will be involved in this project from the B phase. The long term aim of the work will be carried out in Turkey, design and manufacturing process of ongoing extp one of the four main observation instruments on satellites Wide Field Monitor (WFM) to write application code of the sensor system, so that there is both scientific and technical Turks science of people and engineers in extp satellite provide.

Sabancı University Supports the Project with its Software Experience

Sabancı University, which has a technical and scientific knowledge of the WFM sensor, and Tübitak Space Institute, which has significant experience in satellite software and project management, are carrying out the project together.

In scientific terms the project, working in the field of high-energy astronomy science in Turkey will introduce all the capabilities of people to extp satellite and pave the way for use in their research. This preliminary preparation will bring Turkish scientists to the most appropriate position in terms of scientific data input and broadcast output when the satellite becomes operational.

Sabancı University Executive of the Project prof. Dr. Emrah Kalemcidevelops small versions of semiconductor sensors on eXTP at HEALAB, which he founded. He is also responsible for coordination with Turkish Team and other country teams affiliated to ESA. Kalemci is an expert in WFM-like coded mask systems and x-ray data analysis. Sabancı University faculty members Assoc. Dr. Ayhan Bozkurt ve Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Onat will support the project as system engineers responsible for secure software. As a member of the eXTP Science Team Prof. Dr. Ersin Gogus In Turkey, it will assume the scientific side of the project and the scientific capacity of the satellite workshops and similar events will be held in Turkey transfer to the scientists, in coordination with Turkey Space Agency.
