Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Chairman of the Republican People's Party, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer and Fahrettin Altay-Narlıdere metro line on the ongoing construction works. President Soyer said that 72 percent of the line was completed and said, "We saw the light at the end of the tunnel." CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who came to İzmir for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Çiğli Tram, Tunç Soyer and Fahrettin Altay-Narlıdere metro line examined the ongoing work on site. Descending 30 meters from the Üçkuyular entrance of the subway, the delegation received information about the ongoing work in the tunnel. CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu, who made extraordinary efforts for this project, is the President. Tunç Soyer and thanked the Metropolitan team. Emphasizing that the 12 kilometer Fahrettin Altay-Narlıdere metro line, 7,2 percent of which was completed when he took office, reached the level of 72 percent in two years, Soyer said, “Despite a difficult period, we dug an 11-kilometer tunnel underground.” Underlining that the Narlıdere metro is Turkey's cheapest and fastest-growing metro project, Soyer stated that the rough construction of Çağdaş Station has been completed, and work has begun on the Şehitlik Station and the Fine Arts Station. Soyer said, “Right now we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. By the end of February, the light will be fully visible,” he said. Kılıçdaroğlu said, "If only we could see the light at the end of the tunnel in the economy."

CHP Deputy Chairman Seyit Torun, CHP Provincial Chairman Deniz Yücel, Narlıdere Mayor Ali Engin, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Dr. Buğra Gökçe, Deputy Secretary General Eser Atak and Head of Suburban Rail System Department Mehmet Ergenekon were accompanied by the meeting.

Uninterrupted access to Narlıdere from Bornova

Fahrettin Altay-Narlıdere metro line consists of 7 stations: Balçova, Çağdaş, Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, Faculty of Fine Arts, Narlıdere, Şehitlik and District Governorship. With this line, the Metropolitan Municipality will increase the number of stations in the light rail system network to 24 and the length of the rail system to 186,5 kilometers. With the completion of the work, those who take the metro from Bornova EVKA-3 will be able to go directly to Narlıdere District Governorship. The metro line will be completed in 2022.
