Evaluating the mobile communication data of 2020, MOBİSAD President Mustafa Kemal Turnacı said, “We closed 2020 with mobile phone sales of 10 million 500 thousand. When we look at device sales, we saw that the market share of 6.5-7 inc segment devices was 4 percent last year, but this year it increased by 30 percent. While the price spent on mobile phones in the past years was around 2 thousand 400 TL, this figure rose to the band of 2020 thousand 3 TL in 600, as the price of the lower segments increased with the decision to request surveillance certificates from the devices. We foresee a 2021 percent growth in our industry in 5 ”.
With the transition from home to work and continuing education on online platforms during the pandemic period, those who spent most of their time at home turned to solve most of their daily routines digitally. In this process, the importance of mobile communication has increased exponentially. Evaluating the year 2020, Mustafa Kemal Turnacı, President of the Association of Mobile Communication Tools and Information Technologies Businessmen (MOBİSAD), said, `` As a result of all the negativities affecting our industry, we completed 2019 with 10 million 600 thousand mobile phone sales. In 2020, although our sector initially followed a negative course with the effect of the pandemic, afterwards, a rapid demand occurred as people felt the necessity and importance of communication services. We even experienced a period in which demand increased compared to the past. We closed 2020 with 10 million 500 thousand mobile phone sales. However, we observed that informality increased significantly due to the difficult access to products compared to the past. When we add the unrecorded and immeasurable online channels to the number of units we can measure, we estimate that around 20 percent of the device market is created. This again shows that there are real product sales at the level of 12 million. In 2021, we anticipate a growth of around 5 percent with the increasing need for our products and the data of companies conducting market research in the digitalized world ”.
THIS YEAR, WE SPENDED AN AVERAGE 3 THOUSAND 600 TL ON MOBILE PHONE!
Turnacı said, “When we look at device sales, we see that the market share of 6.5-7 inch segment devices was 4 percent last year, but this year it increased by 30 percent. While the price spent on mobile phones in the past years was around 2 thousand 400 TL, this figure rose to the band of 2020 thousand 3 TL in 600, as the price of low segments increased with the decision to request surveillance certificates from the devices.
ACCESS TO YOUR MOBILE PHONE SHOULD BE EASY!
Turnacı said, "We believe in the importance of ensuring easy access to mobile phones in order to prevent many companies from being in a difficult situation due to the stock load in the sector, to prevent employment losses due to this, and to increase efficiency in both business and private life of our citizens."
Underlining that the breakdowns of the stakeholders of the market give alarm at the point of sectoral employment, Turnacı said:
“We see that the supply chains of the capital groups holding the economy of scale in product sales increased from 2018 billion TL in 9.6 to 2020 billion TL in 16, and 52% of their turnover was made up of Telecom products. Telecom products account for 42 percent of the sales of online, supermarket and street shopping malls. Our dealers, which are our traditional sales channels formed by thousands of SMEs in our sector, account for 80 percent of the sectoral employment and lose blood in the face of the competitive conditions in the sales channels. In 2018, they could only achieve the 13 billion TL turnover in 2020. Our dealers, who are employed only for mobile communication, need to be supported in terms of economy of scale and competition conditions. Otherwise, employment losses will be experienced and our citizens will not be able to access smart devices by expert personnel, and they will have negative effects on the way to digitalization. "
Turnacı said, “As MOBİSAD, we represent the common voice of the consumer in mobile communication for 22 years. The increasing contact between the public and the sector makes a great contribution to the sector. We will continue to undertake important works aimed at raising public awareness on this issue.
