Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu said that many things were seen on the field due to the coexistence of epidemics and disasters in 2020, and that all ministries revised and tested the disaster system on this occasion.
Minister Soylu said, “Disaster knowledge equals life information. We need to make the issue of making the buildings we live or work in earthquake resistant both in the country and in our minds. For this reason, we have determined the year 2021 as the Disaster Education Year and our minimum target in the project is to reach 51 million people in disaster training.
Soylu also provided information on disaster awareness training and noted that since the beginning of the year, 81 provincial governors and 1106 local governors have been given disaster awareness training. Soylu explained that disaster awareness training was given to 132 thousand citizens face-to-face, and 1402 personnel received disaster awareness educator training and became disaster teachers.
