Passengers demand new technologies such as UV cleaning instead of traditional methods

According to another data revealed by the research, the participants rely on new technologies rather than traditional methods. More than two-thirds (70%) of respondents prefer using ultraviolet (UV) light to clean aircraft cabins rather than manually cleaning the seat area by airline personnel (8%) or the passenger themselves (16%).

The research also reveals how seriously passengers take hygiene and safety measures in air travel. Half of the participants stated that they wanted assurances about the cleaning of airport and aircraft surfaces, the obligation to use personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves, and social distancing before flying again. On the other hand, more than two-thirds of the respondents want advanced cleaning systems such as UV light to be installed before boarding the plane.

Honeywell Aerospace EMEAI Sales Director Serdar Çetingül made the following statement on the subject: “The research results show that most of the passengers expect to fly again in the next 12 months, but they are uneasy due to the current environment and need trust to start the journey again. Passengers also care about observing social distance and personal protective equipment rules on flights. Passengers who find surface cleaning extremely important demand new technologies such as UV cleaning instead of traditional methods. As Honeywell, we are aware of the demands of passengers in this regard and offer a range of hygiene solutions to airlines, such as UV Cleaning System, personal protective equipment including masks and gloves. We are continuing our dialogue with industry leaders on new products and services that we can provide to better clean the aircraft and easily monitor the cleaning status. "

Not surprisingly, the vast 82% of respondents who plan to travel in the short term cite masks, hand sanitizer and wet wipes as the three most important things airlines should provide on board their aircraft free of charge.
