Toyota GAZOO Racing took its place on the podium this year by completing the 2021 race of the Dakar Rally, which is considered one of the most difficult races in the world. Toyota, the champion of 2019, did not leave the fight until the last stage again this year.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing once again proved the durability of the legendary pick-up by participating in the 2021 Dakar Rally with its renewed Hilux model. Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel, who won the Dakar in 2019 and won six stages with the opening stage this year, once again gave impressive performances.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, who participated in the race with three Toyota Hilux, lost time by struggling with tire puncture problems, but managed to complete the challenging rally of 12 stages and a total of 4400 kilometers.

Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel finished second in the 2021 Dakar Rally 13 minutes 51 seconds behind the leader, while Giniel de Villiers and Alex Haro brought Hilux to the finish in eighth overall classification. However, Shameer Variawa and Dennis Murphy, who started to struggle with the goal of finishing the race, also achieved competitive degrees throughout the rally, reaching the finish line in 21st place.

During the 2021 Dakar Rally, Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel won five stages, except the opening stage, and Giniel de Villiers and Alex Haro a stage victory. Nasser Al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel managed to stand out by winning the second, third and fourth stages in a row.
