Hyundai Motor Company is preparing to produce its first model under the name of its new sub-brand IONIQ. The IONIQ 5, the first model of the BEV series, which will be officially introduced very recently, has all the features of a CUV. Starting a new era of mobility with the IONIQ brand, Hyundai will first use the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), an innovative system specially produced for advanced battery-powered electric vehicles, in this model.

Among the new design features of the IONIQ 5 are Parametric Pixels and an environmentally friendly Color Material Coating (CMF) that combines analog and digital emotions. The front of IONIQ 5 is covered with a new generation lighting system that symbolizes digital technology. The engine hood of the IONIQ 5 also covers the front, minimizing panel gaps. Thus, while achieving a high-tech overall appearance, the low friction coefficient required for EV vehicles is also achieved. Likewise, rims optimized for high aerodynamics stand out as the largest rims ever applied to a Hyundai EV model. The wheels in the IONIQ 5 with the 20-inch Parametric Pixel design theme bring the visuals to the top with this feature.

“The IONIQ 5 offers a completely new customer experience among electric cars while seamlessly illuminating the symbols that make up Hyundai's design DNA,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and President of Hyundai Global Design Center.

Unlike conventional electric cars, the IONIQ 5 can be charged externally, as well as transferring the power from its batteries to another vehicle or used as a general power supply (110 / 220V). Supported by Vehicle Loading (V2L) technology, the car can run various electrical appliances with a normal socket outlet. In addition, the IONIQ 5 can travel more than 5 km with just a 100-minute charge (WLTP Standard). In this way, it can make a difference as one of the rare EV cars in the world with ultra-fast charging capability.

IONIQ 5 will be unveiled with an online world premiere in February.
