Why High Speed Train Projects Are Not Finished?

Why do not fast train projects end?
Why do not fast train projects end?

CHP Party Assembly Member and Kocaeli Deputy Tahsin Tarhan gave a parliamentary question to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu about the high-speed train line projects that should be completed for a long time

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure did not complete the high-speed train projects that have been under construction for many years on the promised date. The Ankara-Sivas high-speed train project, the Bursa-Yenişehir high-speed train project and the Konya Karaman high-speed train project are among the endless projects. Party Assembly Member and Kocaeli Deputy Tahsin Tarhan shared his criticism of the endless projects with the public:

THE PEOPLE CARE

“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has not completed the projects that should have been completed for years. They say we will open this year, no! They say we will open this year, no! They keep the people delayed by constantly delaying them. Even the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train project, which started in 2008, has not been completed for 12 years. They don't keep their promises. The Konya-Karaman high-speed train project, which has the lowest tender price, was to be completed in 2018, even that was not completed. Likewise, the Bursa-Yenişehir high speed train project was not completed on the said date ”.

WHO KNOWS WHEN IT WILL END?

Continuing his words, Tarhan said: “The construction of the Gebze-Darıca metro line has also been transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. It is unclear when this line will end, and who knows when the Ministry will finish this project! The government, which has opened up working businesses again and again as if they were newly built, does not offer the promised projects to the public ”.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF COST DIFFERENCES?

Tarhan pointed out that there are great differences between the costs per kilometer of the tenders within the Ministry: “405 billion 9 million for the 746-kilometer Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line, 106 billion 9 million for the 449-kilometer-long Bursa-Osmaneli high-speed train line, A tender of 102 billion lira was made for the Konya-Karaman high-speed train line. It is not known what the reason for this difference between tenders is. The Ministry should also explain what the difference is between the tenders ”.
