The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services added a new one to the projects it supports to increase women's employment. Lavender seedlings were planted in the district of Ömerli within the scope of the “Women Producing a World Project” submitted to the Dicle Development Agency within the framework of the SOGEP Program by the Mardin Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services. The planting took place on an area of 17 decares with 15 lavender gardens. A total of 120 thousand lavender saplings were planted in Nusaybin on an area of 94 decares. In Dargeçit district, 255 thousand lavender saplings were planted on 135 decares of an area of 106 decares, and the remaining 120 decares will be planted in February. Land preparations continue in Artuklu, Ömerli and Derik. Within the scope of the project, 1020 thousand 800 lavender plants will be planted on a total area of 400 decares. A total of 60 lavender gardens will be established.
"A World Producing Women's Cooperative" was Established
As a result of women's entrepreneurship, women's labor and women's solidarity across the country, the number of women's cooperatives is also increasing. “A World Producing Women's Cooperative” was established within the scope of the project.
60 women were employed for the ongoing sewing within the scope of the project, which Mardin Metropolitan Municipality provided financial support as a partner. With the completion of sapling plantings, 200 women farmers will be selected and these women will be given the necessary training. Women farmers will also receive certificates at the end of their training.
Under the coordination of the Mardin Provincial Directorate of Family, Labor and Social Services, the "Women Who Produce A World Project" is planned to bring women in rural areas into employment by enabling them to become cooperatives. In these lavender gardens, it is aimed to grow organic crops and products with high brand value in agriculture.
Awareness will be created in the areas of product, business development, networking and partnership by providing access to the fund with financial support and loan support for the project. In addition, personal development and capacity building training programs will contribute to local development.
Number of Women's Cooperatives Reached to 459
Supported by Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services, women's cooperatives continue to be a strong employment gateway for women. Regional meetings also encourage the establishment of a women's cooperative. With the participation of Minister Selçuk, a total of 2 regional women's cooperatives have been held, 6 of which are Mediterranean, one Central Anatolia, one Aegean and two Black Sea. Reminding that in these meetings, cooperatives draw attention to their contribution to women's employment and that they support cooperatives as a ministry, Selçuk noted that the number of women's cooperatives increased to 459.
