Porsche launched the rear-wheel drive version of the Taycan, the first fully electric sports car model. The standard performance battery of the new version, which has two different battery options, provides 300 kW (408 PS), while the performance plus battery option can produce up to 350 kW (476 PS). With two different battery capacities, 79,2 kWh and 93,4 kWh, the car can accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 5.4 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 230 km / h in both capacities. This new version of the Taycan offers a range of 431 to 484 kilometers, depending on battery capacity. Both batteries can reach 5 percent from 80 percent charge in 22,5 minutes. In other words, the energy required for a range of about 100 kilometers can be reached in just 5 minutes.
Innovative electric motor and dynamic performance
The new version of the Taycan offers impressive acceleration, traction specific to sports cars, like the other members of the family. The new model, which has a 4 mm excited synchronous motor on the rear axle, just like the Taycan 130S model, also has a 600-amp pulse-controlled inverter. The rear axle also has a two-speed gearbox. Among its outstanding features, the aerodynamic structure of the new model makes a significant contribution to the friction coefficient value starting from 0,22, low energy consumption and therefore long distance range. In this way, the model can recover 265 kW of energy.
Simple exterior design with Porsche DNA
Porsche design DNA also appears in the new member of the Taycan family. The new Taycan looks low and wide when viewed from the front thanks to its highly contoured wings. While its silhouette is shaped by the sporty roofline that slopes towards the rear, the well-detailed side sections also bear characteristic features. Distinctive features of the new rear-wheel drive Taycan include aerodynamically optimized 19-inch Taycan Aero wheels and black brake calipers. LED headlights are offered as standard, while the black front lower panel, side sills and rear diffuser are the same as the Taycan 4S model.
A futuristic interior design
Taycan's cockpit, which was designed with a brand new architecture and signaling the beginning of a new era in design, also stands out in the new member of the family. The curved line of the instrument panel is the highest point on the dashboard. Other elements in the cockpit include a central 10,9-inch information and entertainment display and an optional passenger display for the front passenger. Partial leather interior and eight-way electric front seats can be offered as standard on the Taycan. The car has two luggage compartments up to 84 liters at the front and 407 liters at the rear. Taycan also underlines the sustainable concept of the electric sports car by presenting an innovative interior made from recycled materials.
Centrally networked chassis systems
Porsche uses a centrally networked control system for the Taycan chassis. Porsche analyzes and synchronizes all chassis systems with integrated 4D Chassis Control simultaneously. Both the standard steel spring suspension and the optional adaptive air suspension of the Taycan with three-chamber technology are supported by the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) electronic shock absorber control system. Adaptive air suspension is also available with a Smartlift function. This allows the Taycan to be programmed to automatically raise the ride height in certain recurring locations such as road bumps or driveways. Smartlift can also adjust the car's height for the best possible match between efficiency and driving comfort on highway journeys.
