İYİ Party İzmir Deputy Aytun Çıray asked Vice President Fuat Oktay about the alleged 26 percent hike in Eurasia Tunnel tolls. Çıray said, “The spear doesn't fit in the sack anymore. The citizen, who had to pay for the wrong economic policies of the government, is now exhausted ”.

İYİ Party İzmir Deputy Aytun Çıray brought the allegations of a raise in Eurasia Tunnel tolls on the agenda of the Assembly.

Çıray submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Parliament to be answered by Vice President Fuat Oktay about the allegations of hike in tolls and debts from the Eurasia Tunnel within the scope of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects. Çıray said, “Unfortunately, the hasty budget negotiations in 11 days, the dysfunction of the parliament and the transparency of where the citizen's money is spent are all results of the freak one-man regime we are in. The spear no longer fits in the sack. "The citizen, who had to pay for the wrong economic policies of the government, is now exhausted."

Çıray noted the following in his motion:

"THE COST OF WRONG POLICIES IS RISING IN THE POCKET OF THE CITIZENS AGAIN"

“It is foreseen that the tolls will increase from 26 TL to 36,40 TL for automobiles and to 46 TL from 54,70 TL for minibuses, with a 69 percent increase in the tolls. In almost all of the infrastructure projects made with PPP, foreign exchange commitments were made to companies. The allegation that changes were made in favor of companies in the contracts of PPP projects that were kept secret as 'trade secret' due to the failure to reach the promised transition guarantees and the deepening economic crisis during the epidemic process created question marks in the society. As usual, the cost of wrong policies is again in the pocket of the citizen.

Unfortunately, the hasty budget negotiations in 11 days, the dysfunction of the parliament and the transparency of where the citizens' money is spent are all results of the freak one-man regime we are in. The spear no longer fits in the sack. The citizen who had to pay for the wrong economic policies of the power is now exhausted. Thousands of businesses have closed, millions of young people are looking for work. While the majority of the society is struggling with livelihood and the epidemic, the companies of the guaranteed PPP projects continue to fill their pockets without harming. The citizen will ask to account for all these at the first ballot box. "

QUESTIONS TO FUAT OKTAY

Aytun Çıray asked Vice President Oktay to answer the following questions in her motion regarding the issue:

  • Do you plan to convert the payments made to companies that make hospitals, bridges and highways through Public Private Partnership auctions into Turkish Lira and distribute the savings to businesses that are closed due to the pandemic?
  • Is the rate of increase for the transition fee to be applied in the Eurasia Tunnel as of February 2, correct? Will there be an increase in other highway and bridge tolls within the scope of PPP projects? If so, what are these raise rates and when do you plan to explain?
  • Are there already studies conducted in favor of our farmers, who work for very low profits with crop cultivation, maintenance, dismantling and many other costs, if they use these highways and bridges in their commercial logistics processes? If so, what are these studies?
  • Has the Ministry of Treasury and Finance made a commitment to undertake debt in order to undertake the loan debts of these companies where transportation projects are tendered to banks when necessary?
