The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has increased the amount of support to theaters, which are among the sectors most affected by the coronavirus epidemic, to 2021 million lira by the beginning of 36.

The amount of support provided by the Ministry to private theaters in the 2020-2021 art season increased approximately 3,5 times compared to the previous season, and the figure, which was 2019 million 2020 thousand TL in the 6-100 season, was 21,5 million in total with digital theater support.

As a result of meetings with representatives of private theaters and sector stakeholders, the Ministry immediately put into effect the legislative changes and facilitating the activities of theaters in 2021; It has decided to provide a total of 451 million 14 thousand TL support to 455 private theaters within the scope of the projects "Digital Theater" and "Our Theaters are on DT Stages".

In order to breathe private theaters during the epidemic process, the total amount of support was 36 million lira with this number to be given as the first support package of the new year within the scope of the projects.

Project Applications Completed

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism completed the applications of two projects announced in November and December for 2021, within the scope of legislative changes and practices that facilitate the activities of theaters, as a result of meetings with representatives of private theaters and sector stakeholders, on January 5.

Within the scope of the "Digital Theater / Audio Play" project, the Ministry will provide a total of 155 million 3 thousand TL to 875 private theaters, and a total of 255 million 8 thousand TL will be provided to 670 private theaters within the scope of the "Digital Theater / Digital Play" project.

A total of 41 million 1 thousand liras will be given to 910 private theaters for the January tours of the project "Our Theaters are on DT Stages". The amount of support of the Ministry within the scope of the projects will thus reach 451 million 14 thousand liras for 455 private theaters.

With projects that will ensure that theaters are affected by the negative effects of the epidemic process at the minimum level, the Ministry will bring the plays of private theaters to art lovers in both physical and digital environments and will introduce new plays by local playwrights to the sector.

Digital Theater

With the 'Digital Theater' project of the Ministry, the plays of local authors that have never been staged before will be performed by private theaters and the sound recordings of the plays will be shared by the Ministry in digital environment.

The Ministry will support both producer private theaters, voice actors and writers, with the title of 'Audio Play' of the project, which includes all the components of the theater, including the theater owners. In the coming period, an important source of information will be created for those who want to access the plays of local authors.

In the second title of the project, 'Digital Game', private theaters will deliver a video recording of a play they will stage to the Ministry for publication, and these plays will be brought together with art lovers in a digital environment.

Within the scope of the project, it will be possible to use the scenes of the State Theaters to be determined for play recordings, and in case of shooting in special stages, an important support will be given to the hall owners with the additional support to be provided.

Our Theaters are on DT Stages

The stages of the State Theaters will be allocated to private theaters with another support project, "Our Theaters in DT Stages".

In line with the epidemic conditions, private theaters will stage their plays on DT stages twice in two consecutive days.

The Ministry will also provide the necessary financial support for the tour of private theaters within the scope of this project. Private theaters will not have any concerns about ticket sales.
