IMM put 40 mobile kiosks into service in order to deliver cheap and healthy bread to the people of Istanbul more widely. The project aims to remove the queues in front of IHE kiosks. Speaking at the commissioning of the buffets, Okan Gedik, General Manager of IHE, said, “We need 350 new sales points in the neighborhoods where we do not have any bread sales kiosks in Istanbul to ensure our products are accessible. Our new sales point development efforts are continuing rapidly after determining the location on this subject. As you know, our request to set up a buffet in neighborhoods where there is no Public Bread sale was not accepted by the IMM Council. This led to the prolongation of the new buffet opening process. Thereupon, with a solution developed by our President Ekrem İmamoğlu, in the neighborhoods where we do not have a bread sales kiosk, 'Istanbul Public Bread Mobile Sales Points' were offered to the public in order to both eliminate the grievances of the needy and ensure the accessibility of our people to our products.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) put 40 new mobile bread kiosks into service. Bread kiosks, which are affiliated to Istanbul Halk Ekmek (IHE), started to work in 26 districts where they were most needed. The service hours of mobile kiosks are determined as 11.00-18.00. Okan Gedik, General Manager of IHE, and Özgen Nama, Deputy Chairman of the Board of IHE participated in the commissioning program of the buffets. The project, which was initiated with the guidance of IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, aims to deliver cheap and healthy bread to citizens more widely and to remove the queues in front of IHE buffets during the pandemic period.

IHE BREAD IS ALMOST HALF PRICE

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of mobile kiosks, IHE General Manager Gedik said:

“Halk Ekmek has been producing 800-900 thousand breads per day for years. As the life conditions, which became difficult with the effect of the pandemic, increased the interest in our cheap and healthy bread, we increased the production to 1 million 250 thousand per day. After the 20 percent hike in October, the maximum selling price of one kilo of bread increased to 7,50 TL. Thus 200 grams of bread from 1,25 to 1,50; 240 grams also increased from 1,50 to 1,75 TL. We offer 250 grams of bread for 1 TL. The selling price of 1 kilogram of bread is equivalent to 4 TL. Compared to the bread sales prices applied in the market, the difference increases the consumer's interest in Halk Ekmek. "

350 NEW BUFFET REQUIRED

Gedik pointed out that a large number of Istanbul residents were adversely affected by the economic crisis and that there were long queues in front of bread sales kiosks due to the insufficient number of buffets, and added the following to his statements:

“While Social Assistance is distributed to those in need with Istanbulkart, baby biscuits are given free of charge to children between 6 months and 2 years of age of all low income families registered in our municipality through IHE kiosks. But in neighborhoods where we do not have a bread kiosk, people in need suffer. In neighborhoods in Istanbul where we do not have any bread sales kiosks, we need 350 new sales points to ensure our products are accessible. Our new sales point development studies are continuing rapidly after determining the location on this subject. As you know, our request to set up a buffet in neighborhoods where there is no Public Bread sale was not accepted by the IMM Council. This led to the prolongation of the new buffet opening process. Thereupon, with a solution developed by our President Ekrem İmamoğlu, in the neighborhoods where we do not have a bread sales kiosk, "Istanbul Public Bread Mobile Sales Points" were offered to the public in order to both eliminate the suffering of the needy and ensure the accessibility of our products to our people. "

REPUBLIC ALLIANCE LEAVES FROM THE DRAG

Previously, IMM made 2 proposals to the Municipal Council for the establishment of new IHE kiosks, but these proposals were left in a dire by the representatives of the People's Alliance with the majority. If the People's Alliance had accepted the offer of the Imamoglu administration, Istanbul would have opened the way for 142 HRE kiosks and new businesses during the economic crisis.
