It turned out that although 32 thousand passengers per hour were needed to construct a metro to Çamlıca Mosque, the number of passengers on this line remained at 3 thousand, and IMM canceled the project due to waste.

It was reported that the Büyük Çamlıca Rail System line, whose construction was accelerated by transferring it from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in order to fill the Çamlıca Mosque, which was empty because the congregation did not come, will cause a serious waste of public resources.

SözcüAccording to the news of Erdogan Süzer; It turned out that although at least 32 thousand passengers per hour are needed to construct a metro line, the number of passengers on the Çamlıca line remained at 3 thousand even at peak hour, and the IMM shelved this line to avoid wasting public resources.

3 STOPS REQUESTED IN PLACE OF 4

Despite the technical reports of IMM pointing to waste, a warning was made that the ministry took over the project from IMM with the decision of the President and restarted the process without any technical justification. It was stated that the rail system line, which is 3.6 kilometers long and consists of 4 stops, was transferred to the ministry due to the resource shortage of IMM. However, after the era was not a shortage of resources, but a waste.

BUS IS ENOUGH

According to urban transportation costs, in order to build a rail system on a line, 12 to 800 passengers per hour must be formed on that line. In order to make the subway, it makes sense that the number of passengers per hour exceeds 32 thousand. The hourly passenger demand required to open a bus line is expressed as 32 to 225 thousand 6. In the examinations carried out on the Çamlıca line, it was determined that the number of passengers per hour remained around 400 thousand per hour even during peak hours such as the start and end of work, and the daily passenger flow did not exceed 3 thousand 19. When it was determined that even bus services were sufficient with this passenger demand, the project was shelved by IMM.

250 MILLION EUROOLUK LINE

The rail system that will carry passengers to Çamlıca Mosque was originally planned to consist of 3 stops in the form of Altunizade-Ferah Hill-Çamlıca Mosque. IMM calculated that the rail system would cost 192 million Euros (approximately 1.8 billion TL) in its current state. However, the Ministry of Transport asked IMM to revise the 3-stop line, including the Camlica Tower. Thus, the cost increased to 250 million Euros (approximately 2 billion 335 million TL). It was stated that the cost was high, as the cut-and-cover technique will be applied in the project. IMM made the cost-benefit calculation of the project. In technical studies, it was informed that the line would cause harm, not public benefit.
