China Rocket Co., the manufacturer of the missiles. Ltd. and the municipal government of Haiyang city in Shandong, east China province, will establish a missile base that will operate on solid fuel.

Within the scope of the contract signed between Haiyang Municipality and China Rocket, a missile production facility will be built on an area of ​​163 hectares to operate with solid propergol.

When the facility is completed, it will be able to produce 20 solid fuel missiles per year. The related company said that this series of carrier missiles will be called Smart Dragon. The production facility will also provide services such as missile assembly, testing of missiles and launching them from sea for national and foreign space companies.

The new facility forms part of the global space project under construction in the city of Haiyang. The project, which will require an investment of 23 billion yuan (approximately $ 3,5 billion) and will spread over a total area of ​​1.860 hectares, includes an industrial space park, a port to be launched for missiles to be launched from the sea, and a tourist park to be created on the axis of the 'space' theme.
