United Arab Emirates launched falcone satellite successfully

Earth observation satellite FalconEye has been successfully launched by an Arianespace Soyuz rocket from the European Space Station (CSG) in Kourou, French Guiana.

FalconEye, owned and operated by the United Arab Emirates, was developed as co-contractors by Airbus Defense and Space and Thales Alenia Space.

The FalconEye system will meet the needs of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. When launched, the satellite weighing 1190 kg will be upgraded to 611 km helio-synchronous orbit.

Responsible for satellite design, integration and testing, Airbus Defense and Space provided the platform for the satellite, while Thales Alenia Space designed and supplied the optical device and image processing chain.

Airbus Space Systems President Jean-Marc Nasr said, “FalconEye will provide our customers with the best of space imagery, enabling the highest quality Earth observation. The high performance optical satellite system represents an important step in the cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and France. Thanks to the trust of our customer United Arab Emirates and the support of the French government, we have succeeded in achieving a great teamwork between Airbus and Thales Alenia Space. ” said.
