ASSOCIATIONS WILL MAKE EVALUATIONS
During the meeting held with all disabled associations in Kocaeli, the chairmen of the association were given a link for the unimpeded transportation assistant application. Thanks to this link, associations will be able to make an evaluation after downloading and using the application on their phones. As a result of these evaluations, necessary improvements will be made and will be presented for the use of all citizens.
NO BARRIERS IN TRANSPORTATION
The “Barrier-Free Transportation Assistant” project was implemented with the slogan “No Barriers in Transportation” in order to benefit from public transportation by providing equal opportunities for our disabled citizens and to make Kocaeli easily accessible to disabled citizens. The application, which will be downloaded from the Google Play Store and App Store, provides easier access and accessibility for individuals with disabilities to benefit from public transportation.
APPLICATION STARTED IN 5 STAGES
The project was initially implemented in 5 buses on the 200 bus lines of the TransportationPark (250, 750, 800, 70 and 85/48), taking into account the use of public transportation by disabled citizens. Disabled citizens who download the “Barrier-Free Transportation Assistant” application on their phones open the application when they go to the stop. It marks the stop where they will get on the bus and the stop where they will get off. Visually impaired citizens announce the stop they will get on and the stop they will get off with a voice command. The notification opened by disabled citizens via the application is transmitted to the nearest bus driver on the route via the KocaeliKart system.
MESSAGE TO THE DRIVER
When the driver who receives the message over the KocaeliKart system comes to the stop, he escorts the disabled citizen and takes him to the bus. When the journey starts, the "Accessible Transportation Assistant" informs the disabled citizen along the route. When approaching the stop indicated by the disabled citizen, the application informs the citizen. When it comes to the stop, the disabled citizen is taken off the bus accompanied by the bus driver.
500 THOUSAND TL GRANT
Passengers with a disabled transportation card or an accompanying travel card of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality will be able to use the “Accessible Transportation Assistant” application. In this context, citizens who have any of these cards will be instantly questioned from the Kocaelikart database. During questioning, if the citizen has a disabled transportation card or companion transportation card, the "Accessible Transportation Assistant" application becomes available. Competition organized by the Union of Municipalities of Turkey "Best Project Idea" taking awards grants of $ 500 thousand "Barrier-Free Travel Assistant" app corporate resources without the use of grant appropriation was implemented.
APPLICATION WILL BE EXPANDED
With the “Disabled Transportation Assistant”, it is aimed to facilitate the participation of visually impaired, physically disabled and wheelchair users to social life by taking advantage of public transportation opportunities safely and independently. “Barrier-Free Transportation Assistant” application will be expanded to all buses operated by TransportationPark.
