The guidebook, "Sustainable Development of Transport in China," published by the State Council Information Bureau, pointed out that the country is implementing a system that controls both the total amount of energy consumed and the intensity of consumption to support overall efficiency in transport.
Within the scope of efforts to strengthen the country's renewable energy infrastructure, the electrification rate of the country's railways was brought to the level of 71,9 percent. In addition, 400 thousand new energy buses and 430 thousand trucks, 180 thousand vehicles with natural gas and 290 ships operating with liquid gas operate in the transportation sector in China.
According to the study named "Sustainable Development of Transport in China", in the states and cities where the "green transport" strategy is implemented, the annual energy saved by green highways and ports and other pioneering projects has exceeded 630 thousand tons of coal equivalent energy.
On the other hand, the central government used the funds from the taxes levied on vehicle purchases in the construction of passenger terminals, collecting centers and railway stations. Government officials also coordinated the transfer and development processes of different modes of transport, such as road-rail, sea-rail, in order to restructure the transport network as a whole.
