Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül announced that a total of TL 2 billion will be spent for the Mersin-Gaziantep high-speed train project, which will reduce the distance between the two cities to 2023 hours and will be put into service in 16.

According to the report of Mehmet Boncuk from Sabah; “Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül chaired the activity evaluation meeting of the Regional Directorate of State Railways. Receiving information about the projects carried out by the relevant authorities at the meeting held with the video conference method, Governor Gül drew attention to the fact that the transportation times to Gaziantep will be shortened significantly when the ongoing road works are completed.

Speaking about the high-speed train project, Governor Gül said, “The high-speed train will add value to Gaziantep's value. When the ongoing road works are completed, transportation times to Gaziantep will be shortened. Mersin-Gaziantep high-speed train project will be completed in 2023, and the travel time from 6 hours 30 minutes will be reduced to 2 hours. 8 billion TL has been spent so far and another 8 billion TL will be spent ”.

Reminding that the project targets high-speed train transportation to the Habur Border Gate, Governor Gül stated that while the works on the route up to Gaziantep are continuing, the project of the route between Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa has been completed. "The project will continue until Habur, and it will enable our country to have an important means of transportation from west to east," said Governor Gül.
