The people of Izmir chose the logo of the World Union of Municipalities Cultural Summit, one of the most important cultural events in the world to be held in Izmir in 2021. The design, which received more than half of the votes in the survey conducted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, will be used as the logo of the event.
Leaving Russia's Kazan and Mexico's Merida cities behind, İzmir, which is entitled to host the World Municipalities Union Culture Summit in 2021, is preparing to bring together the world's leading cultural producers. Which of the three logos designed by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and submitted to the voting on the Biz Izmir digital platform for the summit was determined by the votes of Izmir residents. The logo, which came first in the poll, in which more than 6 thousand people participated in the vote, received 56 percent of the votes. The Summit is planned to be started with an online session on June 10, 2021, and to continue and complete with face-to-face sessions between 9-11 September 2021 simultaneously with the Izmir International Fair (IEF).
Will be a global actor in the field of culture
Thanks to the application file prepared with the intense effort and meticulousness of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Izmir left Tatarstan's Kazan and Mexico's Merida cities behind and deserved to host the 2021 Cultural Summit. The Cultural Summit, organized by the World Association of Municipalities (UCLG) to ensure the sustainability of culture, was held in Bilbao, Spain, Jeju in South Korea and Buenos Aires, Argentina in previous years.
With the Culture Summit where cultural policies and agendas related to culture are discussed at the global level, it is aimed to recognize İzmir as a global actor in the field of culture. With the summit that will bring together the world's leading cultural producers, artists and opinion leaders, it is anticipated that İzmir will make an important step towards the goal of a cultural city.
