Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is rapidly continuing the Coastal Rehabilitation Project in Mavişehir, which will put an end to the floods caused by the rise of the sea level especially in the winter months. It was reported that 32,5 meters of 2 thousand 88 meters of in-water concrete were completed while the teams were working at intense pace in order to complete the 500 million lira investment that will end the problems of the inhabitants of Mavişehir before the end of the work.
The Coastal Rehabilitation Project, which was initiated by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to prevent floods in Mavişehir, which is below sea level, especially when the sea rises, continues rapidly. In a short time, significant progress was made in the works carried out by the Department of Science on the 2-kilometer coastal line, which starts from Deniz Kent Restaurant near Peynircioğlu Stream and includes the Mavi Ada region towards the north. In the coastal area, 4 meters of the 2 thousand 88 meters of in-water concrete made 500 meters below the ground in order to prevent flooding that may occur with sea water swelling and sea water passage under the ground has been completed. The excavation of the rock fortification to be rebuilt in the front part has also started.
Sea water will be blocked
The rock fortifications to be reconstructed at the front will protect the area from the wave effect. The rock fortifications to be built will be approximately 1,5 meters above sea level. In addition, the construction of a 750-meter-long rainwater line is started to collect rainwater in residential areas. The collected water will be discharged to the sea through the pumps in the current pumping station. Within the scope of the project, there will be a 55-meter-long sea ladder and an in-water classroom where children will get to know the birds to strengthen the connection of citizens with the sea. This area will also be used for artistic events. The work, which will cost 32,5 million lira, will be completed in August 2021.
