Academic Lomonosov, the world's only floating nuclear power plant (FNPP), was chosen the best nuclear power plant of the year by the jury of the 2020 nuclear power plant competition and won the prestigious 'Asian Power Awards'.

The floating power unit Akadem Lomonosov is located in Pevek, in the Chukotka Autonomous Region in the far east of Russia. With this position, FNPP is the northernmost nuclear power plant in the world. The commissioning of the floating power unit in May 2020 was a real breakthrough to ensure the sustainable development of remote regions of Russia. In addition to generating electricity, FNPP also supplies heat to the Pevek grid. In the future, FNPP will also meet the capacity generated by the disabled Chaun-Bilibino Energy Center.

The 16th Asian Power Awards, which determines the leaders of the energy sector in Asia, was held this year. The event was held by Singapore-based publishing house Charlton Media, which has been publishing Asia's leading energy publication Asian Power for many years. The Lantau Group, KPMG Advisory, Pinsent Masons, AFRY and YCP Solidiance were among the jury members of this year's competition.

This year, B. Grimm Power, Mitsubishi Power, Ltd, China Resources New Energy (Huanxian) Wind Power Co., Ltd. and more than 50 companies, including others.
