TAI's Cargo UAV System to Be TAF's Logistics Supporter in Mountainous Terrain

Cargo unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) will be used to meet the logistics needs of the Turkish Armed Forces in the operation areas.

The Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Presidency of Defense Industry (SSB), in order to increase the operational capabilities of security forces, to bring products and solutions that can respond to current threats and needs into the inventory, to be used in different areas and in various missions than UAVs and SİHAs effectively used by security forces. new systems coordinate the development of solutions.

In its tender announcement in June 2018, SSB announced that the project was initiated to supply Vertical Landing and Take-off Cargo UAV Systems. SSB President İsmail Demir stated that the evaluations for the project had been completed and that a contract was signed with the Turkish Aerospace Industry (TUSAŞ) for the Vertical Landing and Take-off Cargo UAV Project.

Stating that the features of Cargo UAV will be further improved after the use in the operation area, Prof.Dr. İsmail Demir made the following statements:

“We aim for the cargo UAV system to start mass production in 2021. Cargo UAV, which will carry 50 kilograms of useful load, will provide the logistic support that the heroic Turkish soldier needs in the field by carrying cargo between two points, especially in the mountainous terrain, both in the closed cargo compartment and in the suspended area. We are also working on our Cargo UAV project, which has a 1 kilogram payload capacity.

Thanks to the cargo UAV systems, the requirements such as weapons, ammunition, medical equipment, equipment required by the security forces on the battlefield will be delivered in a very short time and safely even in difficult weather conditions. Turkish aviation giant TUSAŞ, which also has works for revolving wing UAV systems, exhibits its solutions and systems that it develops both at home and abroad.
