Lutfi Elvan (Born March 12, 1962; Ermenek, Karaman), the Turkish engineer, economist, politician and current Minister of Finance and Treasury of Turkey.

Lütfi Elvan was born on 12 March 1962 in Ermenek, Karaman, as the third child of A. Nuri and Samiye couple. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Konya. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mining in 1983. He then completed his master's degree in Mining and Operations Research at Leeds University in the UK in 1989. He completed his second master's degree in Economics at Delaware University in the United States in 1995.
Professional career
Elvan started his professional career in 1987 as an engineer in the Operations Research Group at Etibank. He pioneered the dissemination of computer aided mining applications at EtiBank. He started working at the State Planning Organization (DPT) in 1989 and worked as an Assistant Specialist until 1996. In 1996, he was appointed as the Head of Priority Regions Department at the General Directorate of Regional Development and Structural Adjustment and he continued this duty until 2002. He resigned from his post of Deputy Undersecretary, which he started in 2002, in July 2007 to start his political career.
Political career
Elven, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) participated for the first time in 2007 and general elections in Turkey Karaman AK Party entered parliament as deputies. In 2007, he started to serve as chief advisor to the then President of the AK Party, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
