KTJ-3200 engine to power SOM and Atmaca missiles was tested during Minister Mustafa Varank's visit to Kale Group
Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Turkey's leading aerospace and defense company and Kale Kale Aviation R & D, Istanbul, carried out visits to facilities in Tuzla. During his visit to Varank, he examined the ongoing projects and received information. Later, the domestic missile engine KTJ-3200, one of the prominent projects, was also tested. The test of the domestic engine KTJ-3200 to be used in the SOM cruise missile and ATMACA anti-ship missile was successfully carried out.
Making a statement after the visit, Varank said, “KALE carries out important projects in the engine industry primarily to meet the needs of our country. This KALE KTJ-3200 turbojet engine is a 3.200 newton rocket engine. Currently, some of the products we have developed domestically and nationally in our defense industry use engines of this size and power. We were in a position to import them from abroad, but hopefully, with their activation in a very short time, we will now be able to make our very important national missile projects with our own engine. SOM Cruise Missile
Developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE and produced by ROKETSAN, the SOM cruise missile family is an air-to-ground ammunition family and is designed to be used against heavily protected land and sea targets. It has a modular design to support the required operational flexibility. The SOM-J cruise missile is planned to be used in the National Combat Aircraft, AKINCI TİHA and Aksungur SİHA, which are planned to be included in the inventory. SOM-J is planned to be fired from the F-2020 in 16 and certified.
ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile
The ATMACA Missile, which can be used in all weather conditions, is effective against still and moving targets with its resistance to countermeasures, target updating, retargeting, mission termination capacity and advanced mission planning system (3D routing). ATMACA, just like the SOM developed by TÜBİTAK-SAGE and produced by ROKETSAN, can rise to a higher altitude when it approaches the target and dive into the target ship 'from the top'.
ATMACA has Global Positioning System, Inertial Measurement Unit, Barometric Altimeter, Radar Altimeter capabilities and locates its target with high accuracy active radar scanner. Atmaca missile threatens its target beyond the observation line, with a diameter of 350 mm, a wingspan of 1,4 meters, a range of 220+ km and a 250 kg High Explosive Penetration Effective warhead capacity.
