Izmir Metropolitan Municipality teams are working to remove the debris of the buildings destroyed in the earthquake under special security measures. Islands are created in the dump area according to address records in order to prevent the loss of items that are among the rubble piles and that have material and moral value for their owners. More than 100 trucks of debris are brought to the dump site a day. The waste brought by earthmoving trucks is dumped into this area by marking which street and which building it was brought from. The security of the area where IZBETON General Directorate personnel works is provided by Izmir Police Department teams.
Heval Savaş Kaya, General Manager of İZBETON, stated that after the completion of the search and rescue activities in the earthquake area, screening studies will also start in the rubble dump area, and that they aim to bring at least the memories and personal belongings of the people of İzmir who lost their homes. Kaya also said that the debris removal works of Emrah Apartment and Doğanlar Apartments, which were destroyed in the earthquake, have been completed.
