Arkas TURMEPA II waste collection boat collected 30% more waste due to the increase in the trend towards boat holidays last summer, under the effect of the pandemic. Taking into account the health and hygiene conditions, the boat started to work in July, collecting 90 thousand liters of waste and ensured that 720 thousand liters of sea water remained clean throughout the season. Arkas TURMEPA II, which has been serving the protection of the Çeşme sea for 14 years, has preserved over 15.2 million liters of sea water.
ARKAS TURMEPA II waste collection boat, which was built and operated by Arkas Holding within the scope of the social responsibility project realized in 2006 in cooperation with Arkas Holding and DenizTemiz Association / TURMEPA, continued its activities intensively in its 14th year. Waste collection, which started in mid-July, was completed as of November 1. This year, the boat is in Çeşme bays with more intense boat traffic; It served 6 days a week in Aya Yorgi Bay, Hacettepe Bay, Bademli Bay, Dalyan Kocakarı Bay and Çeşme Central Port.
2020 Thousand Liters of Waste Collected from 300 Boats in Summer 90
Arkas TURMEPA II waste collection boat, which started the season in July this year, collected waste from 300 boats until the end of October. The amount of waste collected from these boats has reached approximately 90 thousand liters. In this way, 720 thousand liters of sea water has been kept clean. Considering the works that lasted 3,5 months, it was observed that there was a 30 percent increase in boat - waste data compared to previous years.
Over 15.2 Million Liter Sea Water Remains Clean with Arkas TURMEPA II
The amount of waste water that Arkas TURMEPA II has collected since 2006 has reached 1.9 million liters. This amount is equivalent to the volume of approximately 100 thousand carboy water, and over 15.2 million liters of sea water have been kept clean. Arkas TURMEPA II will continue to protect the sea in Çeşme bays in the 2021 season.
