The number of Chinese Europe freight trains passing through the Horgos border station in Xinjiang Autonomous Uygur Region in northwest China has exceeded 4 since the beginning of this year. Customs officials also pointed out that this number was exceeded despite the effects of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The number of trains in question has already exceeded the total number of last year, according to the customs officials at the Horgos border gate between China and Kazakhstan. Long Teng, from the Horgos Customs Office, explained that the service of this transport line operating between China and Europe was increasingly sought after by a growing number of companies during the pandemic thanks to its low cost, high carrying capacity, stability and connectivity.

On the other hand, Liu Kai, manager of a shipping company based in Horgos, said his firm received an increasing number of business from domestic and foreign customers this year. As a matter of fact, the company in question stated that in the January-October period, it provided approximately 600 thousand tons of freight transport between China and Europe with more than 650 freight trains.
