Although old age is a constant law of being human, there are things to do to delay old age or to have a quality old age period. One of them is to move as much as possible. Physical inactivity, on the other hand, causes us to be deprived of all these positive effects provided by exercise, as well as inviting many diseases. Physical inactivity has become a major health problem worldwide. It has been determined that the factor increasing the risk of death due to all causes is low physical capacity.

LIFE WITHOUT MOVEMENT INCREASES BEHAVIOR THAT CONTRIBUTES TO ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

ESPECIALLY AGES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

According to researches and statistics, the mortality rate due to COVID-19 infection is significantly higher in elderly individuals compared to young and middle-aged individuals. This situation causes an increase in restrictions and prohibitions aimed at protecting advanced elderly people, and the elderly spend more time at home. Along with this, the decrease in the level of physical activity causes the emergence of musculoskeletal system diseases or the sick individuals to get worse. Considering the risk factors that arise in case of insufficient physical activities, it is necessary to provide suggestions that will direct the society, especially the elderly, to appropriate activities in their home or isolated environment in the COVID-19 Pandemic conditions we are in.

Çorum lists his suggestions as follows: “In the individual physical activity program, the frequency, intensity and duration of the activity must be determined and a goal must be established. For individuals who are just starting to exercise, the intensity and duration of physical activity should be low at the beginning of the program, gradually

should be increased. Activities should consist of daily life activities such as climbing stairs, walking, or repetitive exercises such as weight lifting or resistance band to improve fitness.
