Erzincan Tirebolu railway project should be shaped within the framework of macro policies

Hasan Çakırmelikoğlu, Chairman of Giresun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, evaluated the latest status of Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Giresun (Tirebolu) -Trabzon Railway Project, which is among the strategic investments of our country and our region.

President Çakırmelikoğlu's statement is as follows; “Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Giresun (Tirebolu) -Trabzon Railway Project should be focused on the interests of the country and the region within the framework of macro policies.

The project feasibility of a railway connection project in a north-south direction through Erzincan to the Eastern Black Sea, which has been on the agenda for a long time, was planned and focused on two alternative routes. At the current stage, Tirebolu route has been seen more profitable in terms of cost and transportation axis, and in the following process, no work has yet been carried out.

Therefore, it is a fact that our country seriously needs commercial logistics with its railway network within the scope of macro transportation policies and global trade. The shortest and low-cost transportation network of the Middle East and Central Asia market to Europe is possible with the railroad transportation to the Black Sea. It is known by all biased and neutral sections that the strategic region where highway, railway and seaway intersect is Kelkit basin.

In this regard, a railway project to be brought down to the Black Sea via Erzincan must be provided over the Kelkit Basin without hesitation. Accordingly, after the project focused on Tirebolu port, the Eastern Black Sea ports should be transformed into a logistics base with a line connected to Trabzon. It should be known that an otherwise work will turn into a fruitless tree view. "
