The construction of the "Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe Metro Line", whose construction was stopped in 2017 and reconstruction was started by IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu on September 20, 2019, continues at full speed. İmamoğlu, who examined the last tunneling process at the Atakent Station of the line 42 meters below the ground, asked whether there are new loan agreements for metro works, “We need it. There are also on different lines; we are working. We are getting good signals. Hopefully, we'll quickly address these requirements. Istanbul always has that reputation and talent. We wish to quickly overcome these problems and complete the smooth processes regarding our existing lines ”.


Ekrem İmamoğlu, the President of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), restarted the construction work of the "Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe Metro Line", a project that has been stopped since 2017, on 20 September 2019. İmamoğlu examined the completion of the tunneling works at Atakent Station, the most important line that will breathe the city traffic, on site. Following the TBM device (Tunel Boring Machine-Tunnel Boring Machine), the last concrete block drilling process with the employees, İmamoğlu received information about the works from Pelin Alpkökin, Head of the Rail Systems Department. İmamoğlu and staff congratulated the completion of the drilling process with applause. İmamoğlu also answered journalists' questions 42 meters below the ground. “We are currently in Ümraniye. We watched the release of TBM all together. When we took office, it was one of our standing lines. We are at the point where we started quickly with the creation of resources. Our line will continue to the last stop from here. Now it will set out from our stop in Ümraniye to Çekmeköy. Our other arm comes next. The process we started last year from Ataşehir will have finished its job towards the north, towards the last point. And of course, it has its south, there is a part that will continue towards Göztepe. Preparations are being made and I hope we will take action there towards the end of the year. This means that our tunnel works will be almost finished by the end of 2021. There are precious stops on a line that we believe in. We have 11 stops and it is a precious line that also meets Ümraniye-Üsküdar line from Göztepe to Çekmeköy. Subways are important to us. On the one hand, our subways walking excites us. Because, unfortunately, the economy of our country has been putting the costs on our back with foreign currency and such factors that will increase these costs recently. However, Istanbul's active state and being a metropolis of worldwide interest, its capabilities are at a level to overcome all these problems despite everything. We will plan both existing and new projects in the best possible way. We have prepared Istanbul for very important steps in these 5 years. I hope these 5 years will be remembered very well. "

IT WILL CARRY 44.000 PASSENGERS IN ONE WAY PER HOUR

With its fully automatic driverless feature, the 13-kilometer M12 Göztepe-Ümraniye Metro Line consists of 11 stations. The M44.000 line will have a capacity of 12 passengers per hour in one direction; M5 Üsküdar-Çekmeköy subway line at Çarşı station, M4 at Yeni Sahra station Kadıköy- It will be integrated with the Kavşantepe metro line and with Marmaray at Göztepe station.
