In the regulation published by our Ministry, the procedures and principles for the recruitment of specially trained armed police personnel to ensure the safety of civil aircraft, passengers and crew on international flights against illegal intervention actions that endanger the safety of Turkish registered civil aircraft, aircraft and aircraft.

Accordingly, the duties, powers and responsibilities of the air police will be carried out by the General Directorate of Security Protection Department and the units to be established within the police departments of the provinces with international flights.

Air policemen to be selected from among police officers and higher-ranking security services class personnel must have actually worked in the agency for 5 years.

The personnel who want to become an air police officer must be at least an associate degree graduate, do not receive penalties effective on seniority, complete the second regional service once, have good or very good last two performance evaluation points, score 90 points and above separately in the last three performance shots, His senior supervisor will need to give consent and have a medical report issued for aviation personnel.

Candidates will be subjected to Physical Proficiency and Shooting Exam

Candidates who will apply to become an air policeman will be subjected to physical competence and shooting tests by the commissions to be formed by the Protection Department at the place and date determined by the General Directorate of Security.

Personnel who are successful in the exams attend the Air Police Basic Training Course, Civil Aviation Security Basic Security Training, Aviation Terminology and Aircraft Features Training, Comprehensive In-flight Shooting Techniques and Weapon Training, Police Intervention Methods and Techniques Basic Training, Hostage Negotiation Training, Aviation Security He will attend classes on Passenger Profile and Behavior Analysis Training, Unarmed Attack and Defense Melee Techniques.

The Air Police Basic Training Certificate will be given to the members of the police force who successfully complete the course.

Air Police Duties and Powers in Flight

In cases where one or more persons on the aircraft prevent the operation of an aircraft in flight, attempt to take control of the aircraft or take control of the aircraft unlawfully, with the threat of violence or violence, the air policemen will return control of the aircraft to the competent captain pilot in order to ensure flight safety, and also The crew will be responsible for taking appropriate protective safety measures in proportion to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent unlawful acts of intervention.

Air policemen, who will serve in civilian clothing, will protect the cockpit if there is reasonable suspicion of the threats in question. It will not interfere with irregular passengers and potentially dangerous passengers unless the situations specified in the job description occur.

Air policemen will prepare an end-of-duty return report on matters related to their duty at the end of the flight. The reports prepared will be submitted to the competent supervisor in the relevant units and stored in the archives.

Passenger-Like Seats, His Identity Will Be kept Secret

The air police will not be hierarchically connected to the captain pilots and flight crew crews in the flight they are assigned.

The duty of the air policemen who will sit in seats like passengers will be known to the crew on the plane, but their identities will be kept secret from the passengers.

Air policemen will be deemed to be on duty for the duration of the flight they are assigned to. The air police on any flight will act with the crew in the event of a delay in the flight country.

The flight duties and rest periods of the air policemen will be determined by the directive to be issued by the General Directorate of Security.

When they are not on duty on international flights, air policemen will follow up the work and transactions of their office.

Flight routes and countries where the air police will work will be determined by our Ministry by taking the opinion of the Civil Aviation Security Risk and Threat Assessment Commission under the coordination of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.

Within the scope of the Regulation, it is understood with information and documents that the personnel cannot be efficient in the air policing service or that their situation negatively affects the air policing service, the confidential information and documents related to their duty are shared outside the competent authorities and authorized persons, violating the confidentiality rules, and receiving an effective seniority penalty due to a finalized administrative offense, If the result of the health report received every 5 years after starting his duty is negative, his duty will end with the approval of the General Director of Police.

At Least Two Air Policemen Will Take Part in Flights

The number of air policemen to be assigned to the aircraft will be determined by considering the type of aircraft, passenger capacity, flight time, risk of the area where the flight will be made and intelligence information. The number of air policemen to be assigned will not be less than two.

If needed, additional personnel will be assigned in coordination with the relevant units within the scope of risk and threat assessment on flights deemed risky.

The food and accommodation fees of the air police will be made within the framework of the Travel Allowance Law. Space will be allocated by aviation companies according to the air police, the type of aircraft and the number of air policemen assigned. The ticket costs of the air policemen during the assignment will be covered by the relevant aviation companies.

Except for international flights to be determined by the Civil Aviation Security Risk and Threat Assessment Commission, in case of a request for assignment by any aviation operator, the ticket, food and accommodation costs of the air police will be provided by the requesting aviation operator.

The procedures to be carried out before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding visa procedures of the air police will be carried out in coordination with the Foreign Relations Department of the General Directorate of Security.

The weapons, ammunition and equipment to be used by the air police during their mission will be determined by the directive issued by the General Directorate of Security.
