Ray Charles Robinson (born September 23, 1930 - died June 10, 2004), American pianist, musician, master of rhythm and blues.

He was born in Albany, Georgia. He is the child of Bailey and Aretha couple. At the age of five, his younger brother George died by falling head-on in the bathtub and drowning. A few years later, Ray lost his sight at the age of seven (caused by an eye disease called glaucoma). However, it has never completely lost sight. He continued his school life at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. He started his musical life by learning his blind alphabet and playing an instrument there. After leaving school, he started working as a musician. He is also a fan of most people. Thanks to Ahmet Ertegün, owner of Atlantic Records, he gained fame.

Ray Charles's musical life began when he was 7 years old, envious of his friend. He later lost his brother during the same period and this incident increased Ray's interest in music. He had a drug problem for most of his life and later overcame this problem.

His life was the subject of the movie named Ray in 2004. Ray Charles is played by Jamie Foxx in the film. Jamie Foxx won the 2005 Academy Award for Best Actor for this role.
