Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the introductory meeting of the "Integration of Smart Technologies in Prisons Project" implemented by Türk Telekom, in which Justice Minister Abdülhamit Gül also participated.

Karaismailoğlu said that they, as the Ministry, contributed to the national policy towards the improvement of the justice system in terms of infrastructure, and noted that the most important complementary elements that accelerate the development process are undoubtedly the innovations in informatics and communication.

Karaismailoğlu said, “In the last 18 years, as the Ministry, we have made an investment of 76,1 billion TL until the communication infrastructure is brought to its current state. Pointing out that some applications such as e-lawyer and e-doctor will be implemented in the second phase of the project, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that this will improve the living conditions of convicts.

Karaismailoğlu stated that 17 multimedia devices were installed in the Sincan Women's Closed Prison in the first stage, and that they were opened for testing purposes.

Karaismailoğlu said that the efforts to install 100 multimedia devices in Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison and Sincan Juvenile Prison are continuing until the end of the year and said, “National Judicial Network Information System (UYAP) and bank integrations will be completed by 15 November. Our goal is to install these devices in all prisons in our country and to facilitate the life of convicts with an understanding that prioritizes universal human rights. The main goal of all of us is to rehabilitate the detainees and convicts and reintegrate them into society ”.

Karaismailoğlu stated that the project is a work in accordance with the principle of "Implementing new applications such as video meeting of convicts and detainees with their relatives, electronic petition supply by using technological opportunities" in the Judicial Reform Strategy Document announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2019, and He underlined that the country's position before the European Court of Human Rights and international judicial institutions will strengthen with its infrastructure.

Stating that as the Ministry, they will provide effective services at every stage by increasing the share of digital solutions in transportation and communication, Karaismailoğlu stated that they are aware of the importance of digitalization.
