Security, one of the most important elements in the research, design and development process of Ericsson 5G RAN from the very beginning, is at the center of Ericsson Radio System products and solutions. Development processes of Ericsson's Radio Access Network (RAN) technology are now fully compliant with the new 3GPP / GSMA NESAS (Network Security Assurance Plans) standards.

NESAS, defined jointly by 3GPP and GSMA, provides an industry-wide security assurance framework. It benefits from improvements in security levels through 20 security requirements defined for the development and product lifecycle processes of network products.

Security has always been one of the most important issues in terms of 3GPP standards and telecom networks in general. 3GPP-defined mobile services have kept billions of users safe for many years, through both their security functionality and NESAS / SECAM security assurance.

On the other hand, with the implementation of 5G and the emergence of new usage scenarios and the emergence of telecom networks as critical infrastructure, network security has taken the top of the agenda of governments, regulatory agencies, service providers and all businesses from small to large.

Per Narvinger, Ericsson Network Products Officer, said: “Our security framework plays a big role in our responsible execution of our business processes. However, we are delighted to announce that we are fully compliant with NESAS network security global standards. As a critical national infrastructure that offers exceptional innovation opportunities, security is of paramount importance to the spread of 5G around the world. We will continue to work non-stop to achieve open, global and interoperable security standards. "

Ericsson's NESAS compliance process has been thoroughly audited by an independent GSMA accredited audit firm.
