Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented various practices in order to support alternative sustainable urban transportation methods with public transportation, walking and cycling within the scope of European Mobility Week, also opened the doors of its open and closed parking lots to cyclists in order to encourage bicycle transportation. Within the scope of the application, cyclists will be able to park their bicycles safely and free of charge in 3 open and 3 closed parking lots.
Turkey under the leadership of the Union of Municipalities of many local governments that provide support European Mobility Week September 16 to 22 in Eskisehir also brought along new applications in alternative forms of sustainable urban transport. Following the decision to pedestrian Kemal Zeytinoğlu Street in the historical Odunpazarı District, a new application was implemented for cyclists. Within the scope of the application, the Metropolitan Municipality, which opened the doors of a total of 6 parking lots, including Reşadiye Aş Evi Parking Lot, Cumhuriye Parking Lot, Kurtuluş Parking Lot, Dumlupınar Outdoor Parking Lot, Sazova Park Outdoor Parking Lot and Kemal Zeytinoğlu Street Parking Lot, to the cyclists, announced that bicycles can be parked safely and free of charge.
The drivers who park their bicycles in the car parks stated that they are very pleased with the implementation and stated that they will stand by the Metropolitan Municipality in every step to be taken to popularize bicycle transportation. Metropolitan Municipality officials stated that they are working on different studies and applications in order to integrate the bicycle with urban transportation.
