Our country is in the first place in the world in apricot production with an average of 312 thousand tons of apricot production on an area of 800 million 1 thousand decares. This success, of course, has been achieved with the production above world standards from modern enclosed gardens established by our Malatya farmers. As a result of these developments, our apricot production, which was 2002 thousand tons in 315, reached 2019 thousand tons in 170 with an increase of 847 percent ”.

WE RANK THE FIRST IN THE DRIED APRICOT EXPORT IN THE WORLD

“In 2019, we exported 290 million dollars worth of dried and fresh apricots. Approximately 2% of total agricultural exports come from apricots. This pride has been produced by the efforts and sweat of our Malatya brothers. Apricot production in an area of 800 thousand decares in Malatya has been a source of income for 50 thousand families. In 2019, our total apricot production in Malatya was 392 thousand tons and our dried apricot production was 88 thousand tons. Therefore, our Malatya; Apricot in Turkey, 46% of the water, while dried apricots produces more than 80%. In the current year, we expect production slightly lower than last year in dried apricot production due to unfavorable climatic conditions.

IN THE LAST 18 YEARS, WE HAVE BEEN ALWAYS SUPPORTED BY THE APRICOT PRODUCERS

Emphasizing that apricot producers have always stood by the apricot producers in the last 18 years, Pakdemirli said, “If we talk about the support and investments we have given as the Ministry; In addition to 19 Lira fuel-fertilizer support per decare, we provide 10 Lira solid organic-organomineral fertilizer support per decare. We provide organic agriculture support of 35-70 Lira per decare and good agriculture support 20-40 Lira.

Also in apricot production; we support 100 Lira per decare for the use of standard saplings and 280 Lira per decare for the use of certified saplings. Within the scope of small family business support, we support 100 TL per decare. In addition, we support 50 Lira per decare for biotechnical struggle in apricot production. In addition to the support we provide to improve the production, in order to increase the added value by diversifying the products we obtain from apricots; By Ziraat Bank and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, we provide financing to our apricot producers and the sector with low-interest investment and operating loans. Within the scope of rural development supports, we also give grants to bear processing and marketing investors.

Under the IPARD; We gave 32 million grants to 45 projects in total. In Malatya, we provided grants of 18 million TL to 22,5 projects in total. In addition, in order to protect our farmers from natural disasters, we support 50% of the policy under TARSİM as the state. In addition, we increase the policy support rate in case the producer is young and female ”.

DRIED APRICOT PURCHASING TASK GIVEN TO TMO, A FIRST IN THE HISTORY OF THE REPUBLIC

Minister Pakdemirli said, "In order to add value to the most important agricultural export products of our country and to enable our producers to gain more income, TMO was given the task of purchasing hazelnuts, raisins, dried figs and dried apricots on July 27," Minister Pakdemirli continued his words as follows:

We announced the prices of hazelnuts on July 27 and raisins on August 27 and started purchases. Due to the fact that dried fig prices are in favor of the producers, we decided to follow the markets. The assignment of purchasing duty to TMO for hazelnut, raisin and dried fig products increased the market prices in favor of the producers, parallel to this, the export prices increased and more foreign currency inflow was provided to our country. Thus, the rights of not only our producers, but also of our 83 million citizens were protected.

The duty of purchasing dried apricots given to TMO by our President is a first in the history of the Republic. As in other products, with the policies we will create in favor of the producer for dried apricots, stability in the markets will be ensured and our dried apricot will gain worldwide value. On the other hand, we completed our preparations for dried apricots before the TMO was assigned a purchase task.

The first dried apricot licensed warehouse of our country with a modern infrastructure by TMO-TOBB Lidaş started its operations as of Thursday by obtaining its license with a capacity of 5.000 tons. And dried apricots have become more fortunate compared to other export products with the opening of the licensed warehouse.

WE RECEIVE THE KILOGRAM OF SULFURED NUMBER 4 DRIED APRICOTS FROM 21 LIRA, THE UNSULPHATED (DRIED APRICOT) FROM 23 LIRA

Expressing that everyone is waiting for the prices of dried apricots with curiosity, Pakdemirli said, “That's why I am very excited like all Malatya on this important day. Number 2020 dried apricots in 4; Per kilogram we get 21 Lira for sulfurized and 23 Lira for non-sulfurized (day dried). May it be good, auspicious and blessed. Sun dried is a product that our people prefer more. In this context, we gave a little more price to Gun dried in order to increase the production of Dried Gun, reduce sulfurization and increase the export potential. I would like to underline that we are determined not to lower the dried apricot price below 21 Liras. TMO comes into play with the budget and warehouse capacity to buy all of the dried apricots supplied by our producers. TMO will start purchasing at the licensed warehouse from now on. Considering that there is a 2% withholding tax and 2% SSI premium deduction exemption for purchases made through licensed warehouses, our producers will also earn an additional 85 Kurus per ton ”.

TMO'S APRICOT PURCHASE WILL STABLE BOTH PRICES AND EXPORT

Emphasizing that one of the biggest problems of apricot is climatic factors, Minister Pakdemirli said, “There is instability in harvest due to climatic factors. Because one year, while there are 800 thousand tons of fresh apricots, the other year we may encounter 400 thousand tons of apricots. This causes price instability and problems in our export markets. I hope TMO's apricot purchase; It will bring stability to both prices and exports. In addition, price stability will increase our market share in the world apricot market and increase the amount of apricots exported year by year. Exporter companies will not be able to make price reductions by not competing with this price stability in the domestic market over the importer companies with which they have contact, "he said.
