Neşet Ertaş (1938 Kırtıllar Village, Akpınar, Kırşehir - 25 September 2012, İzmir), Turkish minstrel, the last great representative of the abdal tradition. Yaşar Kemal named Ertaş as "Bozkırın Tezenesi".

His father is Muharrem Ertaş and his mother is Döne Ertaş. She lived in Kırtıllar Village, the village where she was born until she was 8 years old, and then settled in İbikli Village with her family. She lost her mother Döne when she was 12 years old. His father, Muharrem Ertaş, married a woman named “Arzu” from the Kırıksoku village of Yozgat in the Central Anatolia Region, and after living in this village for a while, they settled in Yerköy district of Yozgat. Neşet Ertaş first learned to play the violin and then the baglama during his primary school years. Together with his father, Muharrem Ertaş, he started singing songs with his saz during the weddings of the region. Ertaş says that the only person affected is his father, Muharrem Ertaş. He expresses this situation as follows; "My father and I are people of the same spirit."

Art life

Neşet Ertaş, after staying in Kırşehir and then Kırıkkale for 2 years, came to İstanbul at the end of 1957 and released his first record in Şen Alarm Plak under the name Why Garip Garip Ötersin Bülbül, with a folk song belonging to his father Muharrem Ertaş. This record, which is very popular with the public, is followed by other vinyl, cassette and folk concerts. After working in Istanbul for 2 years, Neşet Ertaş settled in Ankara and continued her stage life there. He did his military service in Izmir Narlıdere in 1962. After completing his military service, he meets a girl named Leyla at the casino where he works in Ankara and immediately marries. His father, Muharrem Ertaş, strongly opposes Neşet's marriage. Neşet Ertaş and Muharrem Ertaş did not speak for many years after these events. Neşet Ertaş and Leyla Ertaş had two daughters named Döne, Canan and a son named Hüseyin from this marriage. After being married for 7 years, they separated in the early 1970s. In 1978, he paralyzed his fingers due to alcohol and cigarette use and was unemployed. He goes to Germany at the invitation of his brother. It gets treated. The artist, who stayed in Germany for a long time due to the education and artistic works of his children, returned to his stage life with a concert he gave in Istanbul in 2000.
