The President of Trabzon Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESOB) Metin Kara stated that they expect the date of the construction tender of the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project to be announced, 'It is necessary to look at such projects in terms of the benefit to the region and the country. In this sense, the Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon line is a project that will add value to our region and the country's economy.
TESOB President Metin Kara stated that the history of the project, which foresees that the wealth of Southeastern Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia and the Black Sea will meet with the world through Trabzon Port, goes back 100 years, said:
'It is necessary to look at such projects in terms of the benefit to the region and the country and the added value it will produce. The Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon line is primarily important in terms of operating and marketing the very rich metal mineral deposits in the Gümüşhane region to the world. Railway will reduce production costs and provide more comfortable competition with the world. This situation will also contribute to the socio-economic development of our region. Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon line will also be the Iron Silk Road due to its historical mission. Thanks to this line from Trabzon, the gateway to the sea of the historical Silk Road, goods produced in the East and Southeast will be exported to the world more easily. In addition, a reverse motion, products from the Russian market as our business develops with each passing day, Turkey may be distributed in the form of low cost in many regions. Thanks to this line, Trabzon will be included in the great railway line built between Beijing and London and the Bosphorus crossing with Marmaray is completed, and it will become one of the gates of this most important line of world trade. Investment Island Industrial Zone and logistics center will also be connected to the world trade line.
Drawing attention to the development of relations and trade of Trabzon with the inner parts of Trabzon with the Erzincan - Gümüşhane - Trabzon line, Mayor Kara said, 'The railway definitely contributes to the economy of the place it goes.
