With the Ödemiş Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality will both solve the solid waste problem of the region and generate electricity and fertilizers from these wastes. The facility of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its activities uninterruptedly despite the pandemic process, will be put into service at the end of October.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Turkey spends examples of environmental projects implemented in succession. The Metropolitan Municipality, which transforms the area of the Harmandalı Regular Solid Waste Storage Facility in Çiğli into an urban forest and generates electrical energy from stored wastes, is counting the days to solve the solid waste problem of the districts in the south of the city and turn solid waste into economic value. The construction of the Ödemiş (South-1) Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility, which will generate electricity and fertilizers from the solid wastes in the region, continues rapidly. The first stage of the facility will be put into service at the end of October and 3.2 MW of electricity will be produced per hour from the solid waste decomposed at the facility.

Respect for air, water, soil

The facility, established on an area of 2 thousand 50 square meters in the location of 247. Şeytanlı Karaağaç in Ödemiş, will have a daily waste processing capacity of 600 tons. There are mechanical separation, biomethanization units, compost production and electrical energy production units in the completely closed facility. Wastes coming to the facility will be separated, packaging wastes will be used as raw materials in the recycling industry, and energy and fertilizers will be produced from organic wastes. The facility, which will produce electrical energy in an amount that can meet the energy needs of 60 thousand households annually, will start to serve at full capacity at the end of 2021.

Will be the second facility

Ödemiş Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility will be the second facility established by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in line with the İzmir Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan, after the 20-megawatt power generation facility established in the Harmandalı Landfill in Çiğli.
