Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality installed smart signaling systems at 9 different intersections this year in order to minimize accidents. With the intersections established, the number of signalized intersections in the city has been increased to 80.
SMART SIGNALING SYSTEM IS NOW ESTABLISHED IN INTERSECTIONS
The Metropolitan Municipality has installed a remote controlled smart signaling system on the intersection on Balık Pillar Boulevard on the Şanlıurfa-Diyarbakır Highway route. With the smart signaling system installed, the Metropolitan Municipality will save fuel and time for vehicles.
FEASIBILITY IS DONE BEFORE THE INTERSECTION WORK
The teams of the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation are first designing the intersection geometry, plastic delineators and bollards for a certain period of time at the intersection that will be converted into a smart intersection. After the permanent intersection geometry is observed, the intersection is made with curbstones and offered to the service of drivers and pedestrians. It has been reported that the preliminary work has been completed to establish a signalized system for 20 more intersections as the Department of Transportation.
