UZMAR Shipyard cut the first steel of the RAmparts 19 Tugboat built for Denmark's Aarhus Port on September 03, with the ceremony with the participation of a limited number of valuable guests within the scope of Covid-3000 measures.

After the UZMAR and Aarhus Port Authorities pressed the button for the first steel cutting, Captain Knud Erik Østerberg Hansen, one of the officials of Aarhus Port, also made the first welding of the ship. Captain Hansen stated in his speech that UZMAR is one of the best shipyards in Europe and added; “On behalf of Aarhus Port, I would like to thank the UZMAR Managers, the sales team and everyone who contributed to the implementation of this project before and after the contract was signed. I am sure that this project will be very successful and our good relations with UZMAR will continue in the future. "

The RAmparts 3000 Class ASD tugboat, which has been named "Hermes", will be 30 meters long and will have 2 engines of 2013kw. New Hermes, Robert Allan Ltd. It was designed by Hermes and it is expected to make a big difference in operations with its 20 metric tons of pulling power compared to 65 metric tons of its pulling power. It also has significantly higher maneuverability, greater efficiency and precision in the tasks it will undertake. With its ASD system (Azimuth Stern Drive), Hermes will be able to provide the highest standard of safe service to large ships arriving in Aarhus.

A notable advantage of Hermes, which makes a big difference from other tugs, is that it has a mechanical hybrid function called the Tandem mode. Thanks to this mode, the tug will not only have a safer and more environmentally friendly identity, but also will be able to operate with lower operating costs. Speaking at the ceremony, UZMAR Projects Director Mr. Emrah Sönmez touched upon these features of Hermes; "We can easily say that this project will be a real revolution in tug operations." said.

In his speech, Mr. Mutlu Altuğ, Vice President of UZMAR Board, said “I believe that Hermes will be the first of many ships we will build for Denmark in the future. We, as UZMAR, have gained a new valuable customer and Aarhus Port has now gained a lifetime partner. This tug we will build will serve for Aarhus Port successfully for many years. " said.

Mr. Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of UZMAR, thanked the participants and those who contributed to the project in his message; “We are excited to start this valuable project. Tugboats built by UZMAR in many ports of the world have been serving safely for years. With Hermes, we are adding Denmark to this map. It makes us proud that this tugboat, which is environmentally friendly and powerful in every way, efficient, has high sea capability and will be equipped with the latest technology, will start its duty in the new period that will start in Aarhus, the important port of Europe. said.
