Karaismailoğlu Examines 318 Çanakkale Bridge Construction at 1915 Meters Height

Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that the construction of the 400-kilometer-long Northern Marmara Motorway will be completed on 21 December.

Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu, who examined the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge construction from the air with a helicopter, received information from the authorities at the site about the latest situation in the project. Karaismailoğlu, who also examined the 318-meter-high tower on the Asian side of the bridge, told reporters that the guide ropes are currently being pulled on the bridge, then the catwalks will be put into service and the works continue without interruption in the light of the plans.

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that 600 thousand people took part in the project, 5 of which were engineers, and stated that the figures in the investment are the symbol figures of the world. Karaismailoğlu said, “It will be the tallest steel pedestal bridge in the world with its steel legs 318 meters above the water surface. It will be one of the widest bridges in the world with a span of 2023 meters between two legs. In total, there is a bridge length of 4 thousand 600 meters. Within the scope of this project, 101 kilometers between Malkara and Çanakkale will be completed within the scope of this project. When completed, the journeys that take 1,5 hours will decrease to 6-7 minutes. As in the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, we have very valuable works in every part of our country ”.

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that Asia will be connected to Europe from Çanakkale with the Northern Marmara Motorway and 400 Çanakkale Bridge, which completes the Marmara Region with a 1915-kilometer axis, and said, “The 400-kilometer Northern Marmara Highway continues. I hope we are completing the 5th part this weekend. On December 21, we will have completed the entire Northern Marmara Motorway with its 6th section. We opened the Osmangazi Bridge, it is working. Istanbul-Izmir Highway is operating. We are embroidering the Marmara Sea and the Marmara Region like a gold necklace. These are very valuable projects for our country, for the world, and projects that can be taught as a lesson that the whole world looks envy with both transportation and engineering ”.

Karaismailoğlu, who noted that they examined the project on site, stated that they were with the employees who worked on the project and gave them morale, motivation and strength. Regarding the recent works on the bridge, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “The bridge is behind us. Guide ropes are currently being pulled on our 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. Then the catwalks will be put into service. When the main ropes are manufactured, we will place our decks. "Work continues properly to put our project into operation on March 18, 2022."

Noting that the width of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will be 45 meters, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they are following the progress and developments of the project impatiently on a daily basis, and stated that the works continue without interruption in the light of the plans.

Minister Karaismailoğlu, who made an examination by climbing the 1915-meter-high tower on the Asian side of the 318 Çanakkale Bridge within the scope of his visits to the construction site, stated that the Dardanelles Strait was closed to traffic from time to time with hourly restrictions within the scope of the works, and continued as follows:

“I hope we will open our project together in front of the world on March 18, 2022. These investments are very important. Working and managing these projects is a separate value. We also know the value of this. These projects will be exemplary projects for future generations. "
