Gümüşhane Chamber of Commerce (GTSO) President İsmail Akçay, who stated that it is unacceptable to carry out alternative route studies for the railway by ignoring the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project, which has been waiting for a century in Trabzon and other provinces in the region, especially the people of Gümüşhan, He said that it should be the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project, which has been expected for centuries.
GTSO President Akçay stated that the lobbying works carried out for the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project, which we learned that the project preparation tender was made and we were waiting for the project work, and the initiation of works for alternative lines as a result of different initiatives greatly upset the people of the region; “We know that the project preparation tender and study project studies have been made for the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project, which is the most important investment for the development of the region and we have been struggling for a century. While we are waiting for the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project, which is the most profitable for our region and our country, we suddenly start working for Erzurum (Aşkale) -Rize (İyidere) Railway Project with the letter of the Ministry of Transport, General Directorate of State Railways dated 27 February 2020 and numbered 405744. We learn that the Erzurum (Aşkale) -Rize (İyidere) Railway Project has been asked the municipalities on the route for their opinion and the project works have started.

We are not against any work for the development of our region. Of course, other routes should be made according to the needs. However, conducting various studies for alternative routes before the Erzincan-Gümüşhane-Trabzon Railway Project, which has been expected for a century and considered the most important and beneficial route for the region in the studies for the development of the region, makes us very sad. We always think that the priority investment should be in the investment project that is beneficial for the development of the region. We are wasting time by constantly changing decisions and acting with different discourses. But the business world has no time to waste. As I mentioned before, starting alternative route studies are the initiatives brought about by the view based on the idea of us alone. We want to be rich not only in the province but in the region. '
