Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a study trip to the study site in Ataköy to see the improvement works of the Ayamama Stream, which caused serious problems in many districts when it overflowed. Mayor İmamoğlu was accompanied by Bakırköy Mayor Bülent Kerimoğlu, İBB Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, İSKİ General Manager Raif Mermutlu and other İBB bureaucrats.
In order to prevent disasters from occurring with the overflow of the creek, İBB conducts rehabilitation works at three different points: Marmara Sea - World Trade Center, World Trade Center - TEM Highway and TEM Highway.
İmamoğlu, who received a presentation from İSKİ General Manager Raif Mermutlu about the works carried out between the World Trade Center in Ataköy and TEM Highway, which is one of these areas, then made statements to the press members.

Expressing that he finds the rehabilitation works in Ayamama Stream very valuable, İmamoğlu said, “Ayamama Creek is actually a very important area for Istanbul. RAİF MERMUTLU: "OUR WORKS WILL END IN MARCH"
General Manager Raif Mermutlu, who made a presentation about the work carried out by ISKI in Ayamama Creek, shared the following information: “Ayamam Creek is one of the chronic problems of Istanbul with its overflow in every rain. We are trying to solve the problem here by working in three regions. The stage work in the main branch was previously completed. The second stage is the area between the TEM Highway and the World Trade Center. This is the most problematic area. This is also the region where problems occur in every rainfall. This place is also being expropriated by IMM. Some values were also determined by the court. If these values are deposited or an agreement is reached, this region will be opened. Our other field of study is the region between the Sea of Marmara and the World Trade Center. We will lay a 200 meters long wastewater collector between the Ataköy Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant and this shade. In this way, we will have relieved the region. Our works will be completed by March and the cost will be 45 million TL. ”
AYAMAMA LIFE VALLEY
When rehabilitated, the region will turn into Ayamama Yaşam Vadisi, after the work that will eliminate the flood risk in Başakşehir, Sultangazi, Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Bahçelievler and Bakırköy districts. After the completion of the rehabilitation of Ayamama Creek, the valley of life is planned to be opened in the beginning of summer 2021. The rehabilitation of 21 meters of the Ayamama Creek, whose main tributary is 15.800 kilometers long, has been completed in previous years. In the remaining part of 5.200 meters, reclamation work, wastewater collector manufacturing, expropriation operations and zoning practices continue.
