IMM Logistics Support Center Building received the Zero Waste Certificate by meeting the qualifications determined by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. This document will make IMM, which adopts the principle of respect for nature and people, more effective and stronger in its environmentally sensitive practices.

Disaster and emergency situations was founded in order to satisfy the people's needs of food and shelter IMM Logistics Support Center, needed every moment continues to serve the city and different cities in Turkey. The center, which is affiliated with the IMM Directorate of Businesses, which meets the food needs of citizens in extraordinary situations, established a Zero Waste Management System as a result of its works respectful to nature and people and received a Zero Waste Certificate.

The Zero Waste Regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force on 12 July 2019, aims to protect the environment and human health in waste management processes with the effective management of raw materials and natural resources. The "Zero Waste Certificate" is given by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to the institutions that meet the principles in the relevant regulation. IMM continues its efforts to ensure that different units of the municipality receive the document it obtained for the IMM Logistics Support Center for the first time in the institution.

ALL CRITERIA MEETED

Zero waste practices aiming at the separation, collection and recycling of wastes on site include many procedures and principles. The applications of the IMM Logistics Support Center that meet all the necessary conditions include:

  • Under-table trash cans were removed for source separation. Instead, 34 quadruple waste recycling boxes were placed inside the building (offices and tea houses).
  • 48 separate containers were placed for mask and glove waste and a medical waste label was affixed on it.
  • Two Waste Temporary Storage Areas were built.
  • A 'food waste' label was prepared in the cafeterias and separated from packaging waste.
  • In the Electricity Shop, the separation of cable and metal is indicated by labeling.
  • The packages of detergents used in the laundry were placed in the container (contaminated with contaminants).
  • In the Carpentry Shop, wastes were separated into dangerous and non-hazardous (wood-sawdust and domestic). Domestic waste containers started to be used with labels.
  • A 'metal waste bin' was placed and labeled for needle fractures at the tailor shop.
  • Garbage room in the kitchen; Waste vegetable oil was separated and labeled as Organic waste and Paper waste area.
  • Medical waste boxes used for mask and glove waste were first placed in the 'mask-glove waste' container placed in the hazardous waste collection area. These materials were then kept for 72 hours and started to be mixed with domestic waste.
  • Keeping the amount of nerves in the butchery as 'Unused Crumb Amount (kg)' in the 'Crumb Meat Tracking Form' was commissioned.
  • Textile waste non-hazardous waste container was provided for fabric and sponge wastes in the Upholstery Workshop.
  • Vegetable waste oil entries were entered into MOTAT (Mobile Hazardous Waste Tracking System) system on a monthly basis.
  • The collected packaging wastes are entered into the EÇBS (Integrated Environmental Information System) system weekly.
  • “Corporate Waste Management Training” was given to the staff.
  • Materials such as batteries, electronic waste, fluorescent and toner are sent to the institutional waste temporary storage center of the Waste Management Directorate.
