UZMAR Performed 2 Exercises in Nemrut Bay in the Same Day!

Under the coordination of UZMAR Shipping; On 19 August 2020, a joint marine pollution emergency response exercise was carried out on behalf of 5 coastal facilities (NEMPORT, BATILİMAN, İDÇ, EGEÇELİK, LİKİDGAZ) in Aliağa Nemrut Bay. On the same day, an intervention exercise for marine pollution was carried out on behalf of the ALPET Altınbaş Petroleum Buoy Plant located in Nemrut Bay under the coordination of UZMAR. With both two separate exercises, the response capabilities of UZMAR and Coastal Facilities against possible marine pollution emergencies were tested.

In both exercises, scenario pollution was taken under control with barriers and collected by skimmers (oil collectors). Scenario pollution taken to storage tanks was sent to licensed waste reception and disposal facilities, and both practices were terminated.

The cooperation, communication and coordination between UZMAR, which continues its emergency response services in Aliağa Nemrut Bay, and the Coastal Facilities in the region, are at a very good level, the adequacy of the possibilities and capabilities in terms of preparedness and response to sea pollution emergencies that may be experienced in the region was tested once again with this exercise.
