Traffic is Regulated in Mersin, Risk of Accident is Minimized

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department has installed a traffic signaling system at Nehir Plaza Junction, located at the intersection of 50th and 15th Street in 20. Yıl District.

There were many accidents at the Nehir Plaza Junction in the 50. Yıl District, at the intersection of 15th and 20th Streets and with high traffic density. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department Traffic Services Branch Directorate teams took action and installed a traffic signaling system at the intersection in order to make the traffic safe.

With the traffic signaling system installed in a short time, accidents were minimized and citizens were able to pass through the intersection safely. At the intersection where accidents are intense, the traffic has been regulated thanks to the system and the risk of accident has been minimized.

Muhtar Özcan: "I don't call it traffic light, I call it lifeguard light"

50. Yıl Mahallesi Muhtar Nergis Özcan stated that he had an accident at the same intersection and said that he was happy both as a headman and as a citizen due to the installation of the traffic signaling system. Özcan said, “It was a point where we had serious accidents. I witnessed many accidents. I crashed myself too. I had been waiting for a traffic light to be placed here for 11 years, but my fortune was when I became a headman. So many people died here, so many people were crippled that I don't call it the traffic light, I call it the lifeguard light. I am very happy that this place was built. Our neighborhood residents are also very happy. I thank our Vahap President ”.

Nadir Ceyhan Karamanlı, who has lived in the 3. Yıl District for 50 years and stated that they have witnessed many accidents, said, “The number of accidents in this district reached almost 3 in 40 years.
